Nursery Tales. I've read The Nanny Diaries, thumbed through Admissions, chuckled at sitcom jokes about the competition for preschools in New York, but I never thought it was true. Surely it was all exaggerated for dramatic/comedic purposes... People can't be that ridiculous... right?
Then I saw this job posting: I am signing my child up for nursery school at the Children's Aid Society on Sullivan street on Monday evening. As expected this is in high demand in Manhattan and I will need to get in line the day before registration begins.Seriously? I don't know what makes me laugh more - the use of the word "I" in I will need to get in line the day before when clearly she means "not me...you" or the talking of strategies to keep warm. Because really, who better to know how to "rough it" in the cold than the pampered Park Avenue elite... |
